New Surgery Information Pack
On the 5th February 2025 the Gravesham Planning Committee met and approved our planning application to build a new Medical Centre at the former site of St Joseph's Convent Preparatory School.
We would like to thank the many patients that completed the survey and we continue to use your responses and feedback to help assist us in developing our future plans for staff, services and where we can improve the quality of our care. Where we have been able to we have even looked to try and implement some of those changes now. We will publish a more detailed review of the survey findings soon and look to answer some of the questions and concerns raised in the survey.
The majority of you were very supportive of the new medical centre development but there were obviously some patients with valid concerns and we do take these very seriously but if our GP Practice is to survive we will need a new facilities and this site is the best site we have found in over 10 years of searching with the Council and NHS Kent and Medway .
If at the time of the survey, carried out in 2024, you did not get chance to complete a survey we are still happy to receive them with your feedback as your ideas and comments are still much appreciated and as stated above we are still finalising plans so they will still be useful and relevant.
New Surgery Survey
Many thanks for taking the time to look at the patient information pack we have provided and the patient survey that has been designed to gather feedback on our proposal to build a new surgery.
The reason for proposing the relocation of all GP services to a new purpose-built medical centre, situated midway between both current surgeries at the former St Joseph’s Convent Preparatory School (46 Old Road East, DA12 1NR), is that both our current surgeries at Pelham Road and St Gregory’s are now working at full capacity and the facilities and buildings are no longer fit for purpose. These surgeries are not fully compliant with the current NHS contract standards and cannot be expanded or improved. We have very few options to expand our workforce or services further, and the current facilities do not allow the practice to provide GP services in the most efficient and modern working manner.
Another urgent factor making it vital that we increase the capacity for our surgery is that our practice population is at 15,000 with our current facilities built to handle a population size of 14,000 patients. Gravesham’s population is forecast to continue growing at 6% and as a GP practice our own patient population has continued to increase at over 6% per annum.
Please email back your completed survey to kmicb.pelhammp@nhs.net or if completing a paper copy kindly return to either of our surgeries at Pelham Medical Practice, 17 Pelham Road, Gravesend, Kent, DA11 0HN or St Gregory’s Surgery, 116 St Gregory’s Crescent, Gravesend, Kent DA12 4JW
Many Thanks
